Following the successful conclusion of the World Masters Hockey 2026 World Cup, the Scotland Masters Hockey Ltd selection trials for the 2027 season will take place across four Sundays in September, hosted at the High School of Glasgow. These trials mark the beginning of our national programme for the year ahead, and the Scottish Masters Hockey Board is pleased to confirm the schedule and structure for all participating age groups.
Working on feedback from last year the Board have worked hard to ensure the trials for 2027 are held as early as possible to ensure players have time to organise their holidays and time away from work.

Age group criteria
Players must be eligible to play for Scotland – please see our Selection criteria. This year, players whose age meets the criteria set last year will be eligible to trial for their age group(s). However, this year, players will be limited to trialling for one age group only. As an example, if you are 49, 50 or 51 at the end of December 2027, you are eligible to trial for either the 45s or the 50s however, you MUST choose prior to the trials, which age group you will be trialling for. You will be asked to do this when you complete the Expression of Interest form.
Players will be assessed within their respective age groups. Each age group will have an appointed selection panel responsible for evaluating performance and making squad recommendations.
